Singapore Indian Music Party (SIMP)
The first Indian Music Party in Singapore was founded in 1948 by Mr Edmund Appau together with Mr V. Sinniah (the uncle of V.Ramachandran - a singer/percussionist who later became a member of SIMP)
It was known as the New Indian Orchestra.They were all amateur musicians(thus the name)and entertained at weddings and other functions.
Later with more talented and trained musicians, Mr. Edmund Appau (seated front row, 1st from left) formed the Singapore Indian Music Party also popularly known as SIMP.
SIMP, in the 1960s, after an Istana function with Mr. Lee Kuan Yew who was then the Prime Minister of Singapore.
