Vigneswari V Ramachandran - Sitar Player
I play an instrument called the sitar and I am involved in the opposition politics.
Achievements: I stood for elections as a candidate in the AMK GRC team in GE 2011. You may find my rally speech in youtube.com.
I have performed for various Arts Festival in Singapore and for events organized by People's Association such as Sound Waves at the Esplanade and for the Asean Summit 2007 held at Swiss Hotel with the SPO, the Singapore Pop Orchestra. I have performed for the Chingay Festival once in 2005. I have also done solo performances at various small scale functions and concerts via People's Association for the SIOC-Singapore Indian Orchestra and Choir.
I was a student member in Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) where I continued to have opportunities for performance exposure. Via SIFAS I have joined competitions for solo and group open category competitions held by the NAC National Arts Council in 2004 and 2006.
I am very interested in the Arts and living in Singapore is a great opportunity for me to witness multi racial art forms.
On 22nd and 23rd May 2012, I have performed for the Asian Civilisation Museum with Jack and Rai band. On 15th and 16th June 2012, I have performed for Asia Major Soundwaves at the National University Cultural Centre by Iskanda Ismail and Dick Lee. I have also done another project for Mr. Iskanda and that is the Marina Bay Sands Project for the Musical Water Fountain. I am yet to be involved in a production titled: Taj Mahal, The Romance of India, Shiraz.
